Tutor - Architectural History
Edinburgh College of Art
September 2016 – December 2019
I teach three seminar groups of 2nd year Architectural History students. Architectural History 2B, "Culture and the City", is a mandatory course for architecture and architectural history students in their second year of studies. The course looks at the notion of the City as the exemplary setting of our social condition. Whilst the city is understood to embody organising principles and to be constituted according to the commands of political thought, the course concentrates upon the city conceived also otherwise. It is the scene of self-conscious community and is our monument to shared memory. Duties included preparing classes, marking and evaluating presentations and assignments, helping with essay and exam skills, facilitating discussions on relevant material, overseeing field-trips and dealing with general queries and concerns.
